George Jacob is one of five to receive an award from the Royal Canadian Geographical Society outside of Canada in 2019.

George Jacob is an Canadian museum designer.[1] He is the President & CEO of Bay Ecotarium in San Francisco.

Jacob was born in Kochi, India. He attended the BITS Pilani the Masters program in Museum Studies at Birla Institute of Technology & Science and was a Commonwealth Scholar University of Toronto, graduating with a Masters in Museum Studies in 1996.[1][2] In 2015, he became a Fellow of the Royal Canadian Geographical Society.[3]

In September 2014, he became the founding President and CEO of the Philip J. Currie Dinosaur Museum leading the fastest museum project in Canadian history. In October 2016, Jacob was appointed President & CEO of Bay.Org in California.

In 2018, he unveiled the vision for a $260 million renovation of the Aquarium of the Bay into the Climate Resilience and Ocean Conservation Living Museum in San Francisco, with Dr. Jill Biden delivering the keynote.[4]

He serves on the Board of Directors of California Travel Association,[5] International Council of Museums (ICOM USA) and ICOM-ICTOP (International Committee on Training of Museum Professionals).[6]

As of 2019, Jacobs has been involved in over 100 museums and exhibits.[7]

He is currently the President & CEO of Bay Ecotarium in San Francisco.[8]
